Mediating between 2 friends is no joke. Sitting there for almost 3 hrs, hearing whose fault is this n who is not to blame made me a little dizzy. Ultimately, nearly gort sucked into the endless cycle of pin pointing whose fault n who is to blame for the unhappiness! Then at the crucial moment, the other mediator said smt which made everyone stopped in their tracks and think.. I think it's smt meaningful and exactly how we should treasure friendships, so here goes...
We started off as friends cuz there were some gd traits about each other which sparked off the friendship. Instead of harping on the bad traits which everyone inevitably has (cuz we r all humans), we should try to look at the gd points of others and not always focus on the ugly side. Everyone is not perfect and nobody is the same so we shouldnt impose our own ideas and standards onto the people around us. And therefore there is no need to get angry over every small little thing.. Before becoming angry, why not think twice.. Is it worth it to get angry over this matter? Bear in mind the consequences of flaring up. Everyone around you besides the person that u r angry at, will be affected in one way or another. And it can also be quite difficult and awkward afterwards when yr anger subsides. Plus, sometimes there's no need to flare up so badly cuz it's only gonna be more difficult to settle the matter peacefully after that, especially if it was a misunderstanding afterall.. more embarrassing to spologise after that. Sometimes when we are unhappy, we can still show our distaste in other ways besides throwing a tantrum... it's the tone of the voice which shows u mean business. Give a chance to the people around you to get to understand you better by telling them instead of being so hotheaded that it's difficult to discuss things.
